UKGLAS (UK Global Learning Association for Schools) is a network that exists to support Local Authority and other professionals who have a responsibility for the international and/or global dimension in education. The Association was founded in 1996 and until 2008 was known as UKAEIES (UK Association for European and International Education in Schools). UKGLAS is registered as a charity in the UK (registration number: 1063668).

Current membership of around 40 includes Local Authority personnel working in a range of contexts including international relations, global dimension, international links, languages, citizenship, extended schools, school improvement, vocational training, careers and inclusion.

We also include in workers from Development Education Centres, Comenius Ambassadors, international education consultants, languages specialists and so on.

The mission of the Association is to support the membership as they work with schools to gain an international outlook and prepare their learners for life in a global society. The Association works closely with the British Council, DCSF, QCA, BBC World Class, UNESCO and the DCSF Global Gateway; regular speakers from these organisations and opportunities for networking are part of the benefits of membership.
